Shelter/Water Intensive

In a Wilderness Living situation, your first and foremost necessity for survival is Shelter.  Simple clothes may suffice if you are near the equator and out of the rain and bugs.  On the other hand, you may need to hold up for weeks if you find yourself in any of the extreme climates and other environmental situations that North America offers.   Second in this Scared 4 of survival is Water, and you should be able to make it for weeks with only these two.

Participants learn to apply universal principles for choosing the right location for a shelter, finding materials and building various designs based upon the ecosystem’s available resources.    On that same note your Shelter and Water locations should be within short distance of each other.

This Intensive Workshop gives participants the opportunity to build several shelter designs, adapt others to fit regional specifications, and to sleep in them throughout the process of experimentation and redesign.  Many advanced shelter designs will be discussed, with an emphasis placed on long term survival.

Sterilizing your water source is almost a necessity anywhere you go these days and harvesting and purifying it in survival is an art form without, plastic or metal vessels.  Here participant’s will be able to practice boiling water in various material containers and learn to make dozens of variations.  Students will also learn to discern when they are in habitat that holds pure water and how to distinguish ecosystem health via bio-indicators.

“Wilderness Survival can be Wilderness Living.  The choice is yours, or when you make it.”
