Emergency Wilderness Survival
The Emergency Wilderness Survival program is designed to take the sensation of emergency out of a survival situation, by preparing people with the very wilderness living skills that change survival into wilderness living.
The one day class will give you, as a participant, the confidence to spend more time in natural settings, without having worrisome “what if” scenarios hindering your experience. You will learn to find materials, construct shelters, locate and sterilize water, the art of fire-making (including the one-match fire as well as an introdution to friction fire), as well as how to find food in the wild, and how to cook, preserve and conserve it. In addition, participants will learn how to prepare for nature’s experiences through proper planning and packing.
Other topics include:
- preparing a survival bag
- dressing for the weather
- understanding the climate of our region
- navigation, map and compass basics
- winter survival
- wilderness emergency preparedness
Whether you are a back-country hiker or a suburban trail goer, you can never be too prepared.
